Hello. My name is Richard Bloch. Thank you for taking the time to view my firm's web page. Let me start by telling you about my pre-law life. I grew up in New York City. I graduated from a Waldorf High School and then received my BA from Cornell University. Before law school I was a New York cab driver, a restaurant manager and for a period of time I worked as a butcher in my father's butcher stores. I graduated from the University of Denver Law School in 1986 and immediately went to work for the Arapahoe County District Attorneys Office. I remained with that office until opening my own practice in 2004.
As a District Attorney I spent six years working on nothing but Habitual Criminal Cases. I became a Chief Deputy in 1999 and from then until I left the office worked on nothing but murder cases. In my years as a District Attorney I trained many of the current District Attorneys, judges and police officers in Constitutional Law, Habitual Criminal Law and Trial Practice.
My law practice consists of mainly private clients but I also accept a limited number of Court Appointments. I do this because I believe that everyone deserves to receive the best legal representation available, even if they are in custody and indigent. Since many of these case involve the most serious types of crimes such as Murder, Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Sexual Assault, Kidnapping, Child Abuse, Sex Assault on a Child, Felony Menacing, Methamphetamine Manufacturing and Escape, my Court appointments keep me involved in complex criminal law litigation and they also give me the opportunity to try many more jury trials then most other private attorney's have the chance to do.
While I have predominantly a felony defense practice, I also represent many people charged with DUI, misdemeanor and traffic cases. My experience working major felony cases ensures that my clients facing less serious charges get the same type of legal representation that a person facing life in prison would receive.
Many lawyers advertise themselves as aggressive. Many lawyers will inflate the extent of their experience and their successes. Many lawyers want you to believe that being aggressive, confrontational, angry, and over confident are positive traits. THEY ARE NOT. These behaviors will hurt you and often hide a lack of experience. There are three stages of every case. The plea bargaining stage: the trial stage; and, if necessary, the sentencing stage. I have the respect of most of the states district attorneys and judges. I have the experience to know when you are being treated fairly and when you are not being treated fairly.
Having worked on thousands of cases I can give you sound advice as to whether to risk going to trial or whether to accept a plea bargain. I can often achieve very very positive results without the risk of trial. I am also an extremely experienced trial lawyer. I have had hundreds of jury trials. If a jury trial is the right thing to do, you will see a different side of my personality: passionate, aggressive, intelligent and persuasive. But I am not driven by the need to feed my ego. I am driven by my need to make sure that my clients are treated fairly. Some of my clients are innocent. Literally all of my clients are good people who made bad choices at some point in their lives. I CARE ABOUT YOU AND I WILL FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT TO BE TREATED FAIRLY.
